CISM: Applications with Air Medical, Critical Care Transport and Airborne Law Enforcement course introduces the attendee to the unique world of air medical and airborne law enforcement. Students in this interactive course will discuss the personalities of successful flight crew members; learn about the diversity of emergency service flight programs; examine the inherent difficulties of providing crisis management for personnel dispersed around the country; discuss the historical beginnings of flight programs and current industry issues; and, learn about providing crisis management interventions to flight crew members combining the services of local area teams and the national dedicated air medical/ airborne law enforcement CISM team as a peer and mental health adjunct. The Surface to Air Response Team for CISM (START for CISM) serves the air medical, critical care transport and airborne law enforcement industries by providing pre-incident education, crisis interventions, consult services and follow-up to diverse and often neglected flight crews in an increasingly dangerous and ever-evolving environment. Upon completion, participants will be able to: Identify specific significant stressors that flight personnel face; Demonstrate knowledge of effective stress management strategies for flight personnel; Understand the need to prepare for aviation critical incidents through the use of written policies and procedures; and Identify appropriate resources for assistance in the aftermath of a critical incident.(14 Contact Hours; 14 CE Credits for Psychologists; 14 PDHs for EAPs; 14 CE Hours for Calif.
